The Origin team comprises individuals with backgrounds in business consultancy, accountancy, finance, venture capital and private equity fund management. We have extensive first-hand experience in early-stage enterprises in the sectors where we work.

Tim de Vere Green, CEO
Tim established Origin’s investment activities in 2007. Previously he worked in management consultancy (with Arthur Andersen) and investment banking (with Barclays de Zoete Wedd).
Tim has completed over 50 early-stage capital transactions, mainly in the technology sector, and has extensive first-hand experience of the strategic, commercial and operational issues facing entrepreneurs as they seek to grow their businesses.
Tim serves on the boards of several Origin investees. He holds a first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol and an MA in Documentary Film from Goldsmiths College (London University). He is an active member and board director of the Cambridge Angels investor group.

Alastair Wright, Partner
Alastair worked in media production for the BBC before re-training in medicine. In addition to experience in the unquoted life sciences field, he has spent several years managing a multi-sector quoted company portfolio, weighted towards the small-cap investments.
Alastair holds degrees in Philosophy (University of Durham) and Science Communication (Imperial College), as well as Medicine (Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry).

Mark Woodhams, Partner
Mark spent most of his career in infrastructure investment and fund management, including as a founding managing partner of InfraRed Capital Partners. He joined Origin after his retirement from full-time engagement with InfraRed in 2017.
Mark has served on several company boards in both the infrastructure and early-stage domains, and has also chaired a number of investment committees.
Previously Mark worked in oil and gas with Total S.A., and in strategy consulting. He has an MA in economics from the University of Cambridge.

Andrew McAuliffe, Partner
Before joining Origin, Andrew spent over 30 years in investment banking with Bear Stearns, UBS, Bank of America and BBVA, amongst others.
Predominantly involved in emerging markets, in Head of Sales roles, Andrew has advising on and marketed over 200 public equity offerings, across a wide variety of sectors. He has also run institutional and private listed equity portfolios.
Andrew holds a degree in economics from Bristol University and qualified as a Charted Accountant with Ernst and Young.
